Victim representations

A Victim Impact Statement explains the impact the crime has had on you. This gives you a voice in the Tribunal process and provides the Tribunal with helpful context in respect of discharge conditions.

The Mental Health Review Tribunal for Wales regularly reviews the detention of restricted patients to ensure they are appropriately detained, and that the public remain safe.

As a victim or bereaved family member who has opted in to the Victim Contact Scheme, you have the right to be informed about these reviews and be given the opportunity to participate.

You can also submit a Victim Impact Statement to explain the impact of the offence on you, which the Tribunal can consider when setting discharge conditions. Your Victim Liaison Officer will support you throughout this process.

Our guidance booklets contain important information about how to put representations to the tribunal, who can do this, the time-limits and the tribunal’s procedures.

Our application form and guidance booklets can be downloaded below. If you have problems downloading any of the forms or guidance or you would like them in a different format please contact us.
